约翰?温斯顿?列侬(John Winston Lennon) 大英帝国最高骑士勋章的拥有者(Most Excellent Order of the British Empire，简称 MBE)，是一名摇滚音乐家，歌手，作曲家，艺术家，演员，和平主义者。他作为披头士乐队(The Beatles)的创始人之一而享誉世界。列侬和保罗?麦卡特尼(Paul McCartney)的组合是最成功最有影响力的创作组合之一，他们共同创作出了历史上最著名的摇滚歌曲。1940年10月9日列侬生于利物浦的一个破碎家庭，由姨妈养大。早年就读于利物浦艺术学院。18岁时，母亲死于车祸。1958年他与保罗?麦卡特尼(Paul McCartney)及乔治?哈里森（George Harrison）组成乐队，披头士乐队基本成型。1964年底，披头士有30首歌曲列入该年“佳曲100首”行列，他们的三张专辑垄断专辑排行榜之首达30周之久。此后的五年中，几乎所有专辑都成为乐坛经典。1970年，专辑《ABBEYROAD》（修道院之路）的发行引起乐队成员的分歧，列侬和保罗纷纷指责对方的妻子过分介入乐队的事务，从而引发口角乃至起诉，披头士乐队终于在70年代的第一年里分道扬镳，曲终人散。1980年12月8日晚，列侬在为妻子的歌曲《如履薄冰》配完吉它曲后回家的途中，被一名疯狂的持枪者枪杀于他在曼哈顿公寓的门口。
