The heavy rainfall in South China began in March. So far, there have been at least 10 rounds of heavy rain.
Experts from the weather bureau say the number of rainy days has not increased compared to previous years. But the amount of rainfall has been larger. In some places, up to 80 percent more than the average.
Experts say that in 1987 and 1998, there were super floods after similar heavy rainfalls. This year's heavy rain may be influenced by a strong El Nino phenomena.
