His father was a coach, and he took his son to the training hall from the age of three. "There was nothing really of good fun in the training hall but loads of balls that I could play with. That huge hall to me was like a maze 1 of some kind." At the age of six he decided 2 for himself that he wanted to play. By the time he was in primary school he was addicted 3 to table tennis.
