While forced to conduct today's engagement 1 without his wife, the smile on Prince William’s face meant it wasn’t all bad. Kate’s acute 2 morning sickness means for now she’s being cared for by doctors at Kensington Palace. The good news come next spring, Prince George will have a baby brother or sister to play with.

“Sir, congratulations, congratulations. How is Kate feeling?”

“She is feeling Okay. So it’s been a tricky 3 few days. We were all immensely thrilled. It’s great news -- early days, but I'm hoping things will settle down and she feels a bit better.”

Kensington Palace says the duchess is yet to reach the important 12-week mark in her pregnancy 4, so it’s unclear whether the parents to be, even knew Kate was expecting at the couple’s most recent public engagement last month at the Tower of London.

The news comes just weeks after Prince George celebrated 5 his first birthday. History down under early this year gave everyone a glimpse -- it was sort of a big brother he will be.

William has a good relationship with his brother. Prince Harry 6 preparing for the Invictus Games was, like the Queen and both wider families, delighted with the news.

“It’s a very exciting news. I can’t wait to see my brother suffer more. If there’s any luck it’s a girl, he’ll suffer even greater. I think I’d love to see him try and cope with that.”

Politicians are also quick to congratulate.

“Mr. Speaker, we’ve also heard this morning that Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their second baby. On behalf of the whole country, I’m sure the House will want to join me in congratulating on this fantastic news and wishing them well in the months ahead.”

But it was those who’d turn up hoping to see the couple in Oxford 7 who are among the first to wish them well.

“Are you excited about it?”

“Yeah. We wanted to see her today, but she is having a baby.”

The Duchess was scrutinized 8 from the very moment the news broke off of her pregnancy in 2012, when she was treated for the same condition. She left hospital when she was just seven to eight weeks pregnant 9

But once over the worst, she carried on working until she was around 8-month pregnant, then she was back behind closed doors until the big moment at Lindo Wing in July last year, when the new parents introduced Georges Alexander Louis to the world. His christening at the Chapel 10 Royal, the new third in line to the throne’s first public engagement.

“New generation of the royal family who will be known by the generation that has been born also in hospitals up and down the country, (?) who will know Prince George and his brother or sister as part of the royal family. So it will change the fact that more identifiable focus(?) for a new generation.”

Kate’s engagement including her first solo 11 tour to Malta later this month will be reviewed on a day-by-day basis. Always clear about wanting children, soon enough there will be new photos for the Cambridge family album.
