I only want $100

Sammy prayed every night for two weeks, asking God for $100.When he got no response, he thought it would be a good idea to write to God and see if that worked. The post office received the letter addressed to“God, Los Angeles.” They decided 3 that it would be best to just forward the letter to the mayor 4. The mayorread the letter and thought it was cute, so he asked hissecretary to send the boy $10, thinking the boy wouldthink that was a lot of money for a little boy. When Sammy got the money, he was so excited that he sat down immediately to write a thank-you letter.“Dear God,” he wrote, “Thank you very much for the money you sent. I guess it is to be expected but I thought you should know this: When you sent it through City Hall, the government deducted 5 $90.”

Sharing a Hotel Room

By the time Bill arrived in a little town, every hotel room had been taken. “You’ve got to give me a room somewhere,”

he said to the manager at the hotel, “or just a bed --- I don’t care where.”

“Well, I do have a double room with one guest,” admitted the manager, “and he might be glad to split 6 the cost. But to tell you the truth, he snores 7 so loudly that people in the next room have complained lately. I’m not sure it’d be worth it to you.”

“No problem.” Bill assured 8 him, “I’ll take it.” The next morning Bill came down to breakfast bright-eyed.

“How did you sleep?” asked the manager.

“Never better.”

The manager was impressed. “No problem with the other guy snoring 9, then?”

“No, I shut him up in no time,” said Bill.

“How did you manage that?” asked the manager.

“Did you give him some medicine to stop the snoring?”

“No, I didn’t. But here is what I did. He was already in bed when I went into the room,” Bill explained. “I went over, gave him a kiss on the forehead, and said, ‘Goodnight, beautiful,’ and he sat up all night watching me.”
