 The Tesla Model S finished the first half of this year with 8% of the luxury 1 car market in the U.S. The pricey PEV (Plug-in electric vehicle) outpaced such famous luxury car models as the Audi A8 and the BMW 7-series. What is striking 2 is that Tesla, a new car company, is beating more established carmakers in the luxury car market. At the current pace , Tesla (Tesla Motor Inc.) expects to sell over 20,000 of the model this year.


 
The Tesla Model S went on sale back in the second quarter of last year at a price of $69,900. Cumulative 3 sales have already gone over 10,000 since its introduction .
 
In May, Consumer Reports called it the best car it has ever tested. In the magazine’s test the car scored 99 out of a possible 100 points.
