One of the best celestial 1 events of the year is set to peak this weekend. It will be the largest super moon of the year.

The super moon is actually the result of two phenomena 2 occurring at the same time. The moon’s orbit around the earth is not perfectly 3 circular . It has a somewhat oval shape . So it has closer points and farther points. The closest point is called the perigee 4 and the farthest, the apogee 5. If a full moon occurs during the perigee , we have a super moon. The result is a moon that appears 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than a full moon at apogee. .

The best time to see this super moon in Japan will be around 8:30 p.m. That is when the moon will come within 360,000 km of Earth .
