Most of us have no clue what to do, if we run into a 300-pound bear . But luckily a local TV station in Rhode Island has put together a few tips from the experts on how to protect yourself, should you come across a wild bear .

First, you should avoid direct eye contact with the bear. Also, don’t run away. You should back off slowly and wave your arms up and down . This will let the animal know you are human. Don’t yell 1 . Stay quiet, unless the bear attacks. Then you should scream and throw things at the bear. In an attack, roll up into a ball or lie flat on your stomach . Do your best to stay calm.
