GSK Faces Prosecution Risk in UK over Bribery in China

Britain's largest drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline may be prosecuted 1 in the United Kingdom under the country's anti-commercial bribery 3 law.
The company is already facing bribery charges in China, after four of its senior executives in its Chinese sector 4 detained by police.
Monty Raphael, special counsel in Business Crime in London, said GSK is at risk of being prosecuted in the UK, if the bribery conduct took place after July 1st, 2011, when UK adapted its relevant laws.
However, he also said that it is very likely the UK's judicial 5 department will not prosecute 2 GSK, due to fears that it may impact the country's economy, tax and employment.
