同爱尔兰偶像始祖Boyzone，Westlife的乍红可谓是欧洲偶像音乐界的两大传奇，皆以讨喜的外表和抒情流行曲风夺下了英国男孩团体Take That解散后的偶像音乐市场，连外来的Backstreet Boys与'N Sync在欧洲地区都难以和他们匹敌。而随着Boyzone团员单飞，Westlife也日渐取代Boyzone成为英国少男少女心中的最佳偶像团体。 1999年11月Westlife发表了首张同名专辑，不但在英国、爱尔兰两地分别得到了4白金与12白金，世界各地更拥有超越500万张的惊人销售量。在这张专辑中还史无前例地诞生了5首冠军曲。2000年岁末Westlife再度推出第二张专辑Coast To Coast。这张打败劲敌Spice 1 Girls新作Forever且登上英国冠军宝座的专辑一共收录了18首歌曲，其中还收录两首英国金榜冠军曲：与美国流行天后Mariah Carey合作翻唱Phil Collins的旧作Aaginst All Odds以及My Love。2001年，第三张大碟“World Of Our Own”在歌迷的期盼下发表了，该辑除了展现他们合音的技巧、音色有绝佳表现外，更加入了灵魂式的唱腔，让Westlife成为了实力派的偶像团体。 时至今日，Westlife在全世界各地已经卖出了一千多万张专辑，而从南非到亚洲，从中东到大洋洲，他们更拥有总数达五十二白金的傲人销售量。这些成就，让大家不得不点头这五个才华洋溢且有着不同优美歌声的男孩们，确实成功地创造出另一波的偶像奇迹。
