Leading the news this morning. The former Federal Treasurer 1 Peter Costello is denying reports he tried to make a political comeback late last year. The ABC's 7:30 program has reported Mr. Costello demanded a young MP step aside to accommodate him. It's understood Mr. Costello asked liberal powerbroker Michael Kroger to find out if Kooyong MP Josh Frydenberg would step asid for the Federal Treasurer, former Federal Treasurer.
Truckies are holding nation wide protests today, claiming the two big supermarket chains are encouraging truckers to drive dangerously. The Transport Workers Union says the pressure to meet tight deadlines is contributing to more accidents. Woolworths has refused to comment but Coles is strongly denied the claim.
Two Sydney teenagers with allenged links to the Hells Angels, will appear in court this morning over a spate 2 of shooting last month. Officers fromthe Gang Squad 3 searched two homes at Auburn and Granville, before arresting two 17-year-olds.
And the U.S. President Barack Obama has come out in support of same-sex couples getting married. Mr. Obama has said in a TV interview that he's changed his mind over the course of several years. But he says ultimately it's still a state issue.
And finally, Indonesian authorities say a search will resume at first light day for a missing Russian-built plane with at least 44 people aboard. The jet was on a demonstration 4 flight when it disappeared over mountainous country south of the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
