Leading the news this morning. The Wikileaks founder 1 Julian Assange is preparing to spend a second night in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.The 40-year-old walked into the embassy yesterday seeking political asylum 2. He's now facing arrest for breaching 3 his bail 4 conditions by being out at night.
New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras has been sworn in as the country's fourth prime minister in eight months. He will lead a three party coalition 5 and he is now asking the Greek people for unity 6 and trust. Mr. Samaras is promising 7 to re-negotiate its parts of the international bailout deal.
Crowds are again gathering 8 in Cairo as the Muslim Brotherhood 9 predicts Egypt's military council could stay in power for years. Egypt's election committee has delayed announcing the poll results. Ousted 10 president Hosni Mubarak remains 11 in a critical condition in hospital.
World leaders have kicked off a three-day Earth Summit in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. The Rio-Plus-20 conference brings together almost 200 U.N. members. U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon has opened the summit warning the world is running out of time to fix various environmental problems.
And first time novelist Anna Funder has taken out Australia's most prestigious 12 literary prize, the Miles Franklin Award. Her book All That I Am tells the story of an elderly Sydney woman and her role in the anti-Hitler resistance movement before World War II. Anna Funder has also attacked the Queensland premier 13 for scrapping 14 that state's literary awards.
