Former City Supervisor Dan White who pulled the trigger goes on trial for murder, but he’s convicted of voluntary manslaughter. In what’s dubbed 3 “The Twinkie Defense”, White’s attorneys argue the acquired junk food habits impaired 4 his judgment 5. 1973, in Washington the U.S. Senate confirms Gerald Ford 6 as Richard Nixon’s vice 7 president, Ford succeeds Spiro Agnew, who had resigned amid accusations 8 that he took bribes 9. The following year Ford becomes president after the Watergate scandal forces Nixon from office. 2005, doctors in France perform the world’s first partial face transplant on a woman disfigured by a dog bite during a 15-hour-operation.
