“Ironic(“讽刺的”)”通过列举生活中种种令人哭笑不得无可奈何的场景揭示人世以至恒宇中形而上的无序性和不可预见性的主题理念，活泼演绎世事无常人生难料的亘古世俗话题，略带存在主义色彩。不知道这首歌的歌词是谁写的，Alanis Morissette也好，别人也罢。我只能说，写这首歌词的人真是很有才，至少体验出了生活无奈和意外才能够写出这样精彩的歌词出来。至于Alanis Morissette的演唱，也是可圈可点的，一开始的轻轻的吟唱，又带有点俏皮的感觉，娓娓道出极具讽刺意味的细碎生活片断：89岁的老头儿抽中大奖成为百万富翁却于翌日死掉，苍蝇飞到名贵的chardonnay酒里，死罪的赦免令迟到了2分钟(那个无辜的人已经被处决)……到高潮时候的情感宣泄式的摇滚风格的转变，把Ironic的主题点到恰到好处。歌曲中有好几个起伏，时而舒缓，时而激进，好像是体现Life is ironic的主题一样，让人捉摸不透。歌曲的最后突然回归舒缓和平和，唱出Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out，Helping you out.画龙点睛。
