A Palestinian suicide bomber 1 has injured more than 15 people in northern Israel. It is the second attack of its kind in the past four days.
The blast occurred outside the Wall Street restaurant in Kiryat Motzkin, near the port of Haifa.
The 1)explosion 2)shredded an 3)awning, 4)overturned tables and chairs, and covered the 5)patio 2 of the restaurant in blood. But while more than 15 people were slightly wounded, the only 6)fatality was the Palestinian bomber.
The Islamic Jihad, a group that has vowed 3 to destroy Israel, claimed responsibility in faxes to news agencies in the Lebanese capital Beirut.
The explosion took place just three days after 16 people, including the bomber, were killed in a similar attack in a crowded pizzeria in central Jerusalem.
Israeli soldiers guard a Palestinian communications center in Abu Dis The damage from the latest blast was 7)minimized by the fact that the bomber detonated his explosives on a patio outside the restaurant.
The explosion occurred as Israel continued its campaign of shutting down Palestinian institutions in east Jerusalem. Earlier, Israeli soldiers seized the offices of the Palestinian Telecommunications Corporation in Abu Dis, as part of efforts to end any Palestinian political 8)presence in the city.
Palestinian leaders say the Israeli actions are highly 9)provocative and they have 10)vowed to reclaim 4 their buildings. But Israel says that the actions are justified 5 in the wake of the campaign of Palestinian suicide bombings.
