Rachel Lee: The nation's manufacturers were busy in April. The Institute for Supply Management reports strong growth in the sector 1 last month. George Nolen, President & CEO of Siemens USA says, that's in line with what his company is seeing and energy costs are the only weak point.

George Nolen : Those would be the more troubled spots, but all other indicators 2 say that everything is pushing through and we continue to show re-growth.

Rachel Lee : Meantime, American consumers spent more freely in March and their incomes grew with the fastest pace since September.

Rachel Lee: The health of Social Security and Medicare have taken a turn for the worse. Treasury 3 Secretary John Snow:

John Snow: What I report demonstrates to something we've known for a long time. The social security problem remains 4 with us. The system is seriously under-funded and it's not financially sustainable.

Rachel Lee: An annual report shows Medicare will go bust 5 in 12 years, Social Security will run out of money by 2040. Once the trust funds are exhausted 6, that means beneficiaries will get only a percentage of the benefits they were promised.

Rachel Lee : The average cost of gasoline slipped by a penny over the weekend to 2 dollars and 92 cents a gallon. But analysts 7 say that trend will not continue.

Rachel Lee : Yahoo! hopes to make technology more user-friendly with a new section. Liz Kennedy has details.

Liz Kennedy : It's called " The Yahoo! Tech" , a new channel on their website where you can get information on a variety of gadgets 8.
