Rachel Lee: The health of Social Security and Medicare have taken a turn for the worse. Treasury 3 Secretary John Snow:
John Snow: What I report demonstrates to something we've known for a long time. The social security problem remains 4 with us. The system is seriously under-funded and it's not financially sustainable.
Rachel Lee: An annual report shows Medicare will go bust 5 in 12 years, Social Security will run out of money by 2040. Once the trust funds are exhausted 6, that means beneficiaries will get only a percentage of the benefits they were promised.
