[02:38.48]What you are supposed to do is to choose the experiments and the activities that you want to do with their certain favorite course.

[02:46.30]Part of my job is to help you to make your choices.

[02:50.19]Next I'd like to mention that in each work from chapter there are usually two subsections, the first is called experiments, the second is called activities.

[03:02.41]In the experiment section the workbook gives full instructions for all of the experiments including alternative procedures, you may use the procedure 10 you wish on the basis of available equipment or personal preference.

[03:17.09]In the activity section, you'll find suggestions for many experiments, exercises and projects that you can do on your own time.

[03:26.39]You'll see that there are usually no detailed 11 instructions for the activities, you're supposed to do them in your own way.

[03:55.23]All big cities are quite similar.Living in a modern Asian city is not very different from living in an American city.

[04:04.11]The same cannot be said about living on farms, however.

[04:07.59]In many parts of the world, farmers and their families live in villages or towns.

[04:12.79]In the United States, however, each farm family lives on its own fields, often beyond the sight of any neighbors.

[04:20.96]Instead of traveling from a village to the fields every morning,American farmers stay on their land throughout the week.

[04:27.99]They travel to the nearest town on Saturdays for shopping or on Sundays for church.

[04:33.45]The children ride on buses to large school which serve all of the farm families living in the area.

[04:39.46]In some areas, there are small schools serving a few farm families, and the children walk to school.

[04:45.81]Of course life keeps changing for everyone, including farmers.

[04:50.19]Today there are cars,good roads,radios,and television sets.

[04:55.37]And of course there are modern machines for farming.

[04:58.50]All of these have changed farm life.

[05:01.14]For many years, however, farming in America was often a lonely way of living.

[05:06.21]Farmers had to deal with their own problems, instead of getting help from others.

[05:11.17]They learned 13 to try new methods, and to trust their own ideas instead of following older ways.

[05:17.20]15.What is the passage maining talking about?

[05:32.64]Before we get to the student centre,I'd like to show you the Brummie hall, one of the five co-ed under-graduate of resident's halls at the university, just next to it is the Brummie dining-hall.

[05:46.10]Since there are only a few small kitchens in the dorms, most of students buy meal tickets which provided 14 twenty meals per week at the cafeterias.

[05:58.77]It would be an exception 15 of Sunday evenings and vacation breaks.

[06:03.31]Dining halls like Brummie are open everyday for breakfast, lunch and dinner, students simply present their meal tickets at the door and go through the line helping 16 themselves to eat much food they wanted.

[06:17.52]While dietitians work hard to make sure students get a well balanced diet, many of our young men and women claimed that Brummie's food like most dorm food leaves much to be desired.

[06:31.52]However,there are certain times.Especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas, when the dining halls staff goes all out preparing seasonal 17 specialties 18 together with steak or seafood 19.

[06:47.07]These dinners are always exceptional 20 and well attended. But regardless of the supplies of cooking,Brummie is a good place to get together with friends and to meet new people.

[06:58.82]And this is the student centre which is coming up on our right.

[07:02.53]18.Why do most students buy meal tickets?
