Todd: Wow! Do you eat that every day?
 
Kentaro: Yeah, maybe five days a week I will eat Japanese style breakfast.
 
Todd: Oh, really! OK. Nice. And do you eat it at home or at a restaurant?
 
Kentaro: At home.
 
Todd: At home?
 
Kentaro: Mm-hm.
 
Todd: OK. Do you make it yourself?
 
Kentaro: Mm-hm.
 
Todd: Oh, really. OK. What is a typical American breakfast?
 
Kentaro: Well, I would say something like just toast and/or cereal 1 and orange juice or milk.
 
Todd: OK. Great and have you ever had breakfast in bed?
 
Kentaro: In bed?
 
Todd: Yeah!
 
Kentaro: No, not really.
 
Todd: No, OK. And what time do people usually eat breakfast in Japan?
 
Kentaro: Well, I would say but maybe 7to 8. Something around that.
 
Todd: Around 7 or 8. OK. Great. Thanks a lot.

Five days a week, I usually eat a Japanese-style breakfast.
 
If you do something 'five days a week' then you do it five out of the seven days during the week.  We can adjust 2 this phrase 3 and adjust the number to show how frequently 4 we do something.  Notice the following:

She goes to the gym six days a week.

Do you make your breakfast yourself?
 
If you 'make something yourself' you do it without anyone else helping 5 you and nobody does it for you.  Notice the following:

What is a typical American breakfast?
 
Something 'typical' is normal or common.  In this case we are talking about what is normal for a certain group of people, Americans.  Notice the following:
 
He is a typical lawyer.
What is a typical day like in your life?

Have you ever had breakfast in bed?
 
'Breakfast in bed' is when you eat your first meal of the day without leaving your bed.  Many times this means 6 that someone else prepares the meal and brings it to you in bed.  Notice the following:
 
Do you want me to make you breakfast in bed?
She brought her husband breakfast in bed on his birthday.

[Have you ever done that?] No, not really.
 
When we say 'not really' this means 'not exactly' or we have not done exactly what the person is asking.  Notice the following:
 
Do you like broccoli 7? "Not really."
Do you think she likes her job? "No, not really."
