1924, in Chicago, 2 wealthy University students Nathan Leopold Junior and Richard Loeb kidnap and murder 14-year-old Bobby Franks in what they call a "thrill killing 2". Leopold Junior and Loeb who plead guilty to the crime get life in prison instead of the death penalty after lawyer Clarence Darrow defenced them as their trial.
1881, Clara Barton founds the American Red Cross, serving as the first President of the US branch of world-wide humanitarian 3 agency.
