The hope for Britain to have a local lift the Wimbledon trophy 1 goes bigger. Both the country's female and male No. 1, Laura Robson and Andy Murray, have powered through to the next round of the tournament. CRI's London correspondent Tu Yun reports.
Murray has been facing an increasingly open draw since the early exits of defending champion Roger Federer and Spanish powerhouse Rafael Nadal.
And he's now one step closer to the trophy, on which he narrowly missed out last year, after cruising past Spain's Tommy Robredo 6-2,6-4,7-5.
But the Wimbledon runner-up from last year admits he faces even greater pressure.
"People are putting even more pressure on me because of the nature of how the draw has worked out. But I just got to try and stay focused, not worried about that stuff. But it's hard. It would be a lot easier if we just concentrated on each match at a time."
Another player lifting British spirits is Laura Robson.
The 19-year-old Australian-born British player snatched a straight-set victory over Colombia's Mariana Duque-Marino 6-4, 6-1.
It's her first time into the third round at Wimbledon.
"It's a big win for me. Any match on Center Court is a big one for me. Really excited."
Robson sets up a last-32 clash against 71st-ranked Marina Erakovic, who ousted 2 China's Peng Shuai in the second round.
In other women's matches on Friday, 7th-seeded German Angelique Kerber was defeated by 46th-ranked Estonian Kaia Kanepi, and 15th seed Marion Bartoli advanced by beating Italy's Camila Giorgi.
And on the men's side, 4th-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer beat countryman Roberto Bautista Agut. And Ukraine's Sergiy Stakhovsky, who upset Roger Federer in the second set, was knocked out by Austria's Jurgen Melzer.
For CRI, I'm Tu Yun at Wimbledon.
