The United States is working to reach its goal of bringing 10,000 Syrian refugees to the country by the end of September. There has been an increase in the number of Syrian refugees entering the U.S. in the past three months.

More than 8,000 people who fled violence and persecution 1 in Syria have been resettled in the United States between October 1, 2015 and this week. The State Department's Refugee Processing Center -- www.wrapsnet.org -- says half are under the age of 14.
