Government and health officials are trying to help thousands of sick people there who have been diagnosed with cholera 1. It's an illness caused by bacterial 2 and people usually get it form food or water that's been contaminated. Cholera can be treated but in severe cases the desease can be fatal. More than 250 people have died from this cholera outbreak in Haiti. Part of the problem is that parts of Haiti havn't recovered from that mess of earthquake  back in January. People are still living in tents and they don't have access to clean water. P. is in Haiti and she is more pressed on the situation there and how officials are trying to do with this outbreak.




Health professionals know that they may be at a tipping point with this outbreak. They want to do all they can to contain it. What does that mean? That means being here in Portan-Prince where tons of thousands are still in ... from all over the city. They are stepping up for sentitation and ... They are opening hand centers not just clearing your hands. They are having a water dilivery to these areas. They are also having truck on stand-by in order to take people thtough night to hospitals if they feel sick and they are setting up a precautionary measure for ... the situation ... to the north of Portan-Prince. Situation is still quite desprate. The most frastrating thing is the relatives who get to the hospital with their loved one sick and they end up dying still while the hospital are completely overwhelmed. And ... the Haitian government and the UN are trying to get more supplies em over some very tough to rain rehydration supplies trying to get medical professionals up there to be able to tend these people. They hope that the situation will improve quite a bit in the next 24 to 48 hours. The problems though is that they are really keeping an eye on the number they want making sure that they are able to contain this outbreak. That's when the problems begin they have so many people, more than a million people still here affected 3 by the earthquake living in already what are not very hydranic condition, and that is what quite ...
