Sandy: May I leave the table please, dad?
Father: No, you may not, Sandy.

Sue 4: Can I leave the table please, dad?
Mother: No, you can’t, Sue.
We haven’t finished our dinner yet.
Sandy: May I have some cheese and biscuits
please, dad?
Father: Of course 5, Sandy.
Here you are.
Sue: Please let me have some, too, Sandy.
Sandy: Here you are, Sue.
Father: That was 6 a very good dinner, Betty.
I enjoyed it very much.
Father: May I leave the table please?
Children: No, you may not!
Sue: We haven’t finished our dinner yet!
1 polite
adj.有礼貌的，客气的；斯文的，有教养的
- It's not polite to stare at a girl in the face.盯着姑娘的脸瞧是不礼貌的。
- She is a polite girl.她是一个文雅的姑娘。
2 finished
adj.完成的，精湛的；v.动词finish的过去式和过去分词
- We finished up everything there was on the table. 我们把桌上的东西全吃完了。
- We can certainly have the job finished on time.我们肯定能按时完成任务。
3 yet
adv.还，仍然，即刻；conj.尽管，然而
- I am not ready yet.我还没有准备好。

4 sue
vt.控告，起诉；vi.请求，追求，起诉
