The top names in the music business will be on hand in Los Angeles for the Grammy Awards presentation Wednesday evening.

Mariah Carey, Kanye West and John Legend have eight Grammy nominations 3 each. Mariah Carey is hoping for a career comeback after a long slump 4 with her album The Emancipation 5 of Mimi. That album and Kanye West's "Late Registration 6" are both up for album of the year.
Carey's single "We Belong Together" and West's "Gold Digger" are among the nominees 8 for record of year.
John Legend
John Legend is a nominee 7 for best new artist, and for song of the year for his ballad 9 "Ordinary People."
The Grammys are presented by the Recording 10 Academy, made up of 16,000 people in the music industry. The awards are given out in 108 categories, from classical to country. The event at Staples Center in Los Angeles is seen by viewers around the world on television. Among the scheduled performers is Paul McCartney, a 13-time Grammy winner and multiple nominee again this year.
