1. The escaped prisoner wanted for two deaths in Virginia has been captured. Police say William Morva overpowered a deputy at a hospital, shot and killed a hospital guard and gunned down a deputy near the Virginia Tech campus. The college had to cancel its first day of classes.

2. John Mark Karr is in a high-security jail cell in California, waiting to be transferred to Colorado to face charges in the killing 1 of six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey. Karr was arrested at the airport on a warrant from Boulder 2 County, Colorado. Residents in Boulder seem a bit annoyed that they might be paying for Karr's lavish 3 flight from Thailand.

3. Israel's prime minister is under increasing pressure to investigate his government's management of the war in Lebanon. But Ehud Olmert says second-guessing would only undermine the army. Meanwhile, Israeli troops reported shooting two Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon.

4. The photographer who captured World War Two servicemen raising the American flag over Iwo Jima has died. Joe Rosenthal of The Associated Press won a Pulitzer Prize for that 1945 snapshot. His daughter says Rosenthal died of natural causes. He was 94
