Security officer keeps Afghans away from bloody 1 site after bomb exploded in Kabul, July 04, 2006

Afghan authorities say two bomb explosions in Kabul have injured five civilians 3, while suspected Taleban militants 4 have killed five Afghan laborers 5 working at a U.S. military base in eastern Afghanistan.

Interior Ministry 6 spokesman Yousuf Stanezai has blamed "enemies of Afghanistan" for Tuesday's bombings in Kabul.

He says the first bomb exploded roadside east of the capital city, wounding one civilian 2. Hours later, Stanezai says, another bomb detonated outside a movie theater in central Kabul.

"The explosives were placed in front of the Ariana cinema. Four persons were injured and two vehicles were damaged," he said. "Police has started the investigation 7 to arrest those people who have committed this crime against the innocent people of Afghanistan."

Meanwhile, police officials say that suspected Taleban militants shot dead five Afghans Monday night in eastern Kunar province, which borders Pakistan.

The victims were laborers working at a U.S. military base in the region.

This was the second major attack on people working for international forces in Afghanistan. Last month, 10 people were killed when a bomb hit a minibus carrying Afghan workers to an American base in the southern city of Kandahar.

Afghan authorities blame Taleban insurgents 8 and their al-Qaida allies for roadside bombings, suicide attacks on government and foreign troops, and assassinations 9 of anyone supporting them.

There has been an unusual increase in the violence this year, prompting Afghan and U.S.-led coalition 10 troops to launch the one of the biggest anti-insurgent offensives since the Taleban was driven from power in 2001 for supporting al-Qaida terrorists.
