Actor Jason Bateman has left his comedic comfort zone for his first ever thriller.
First time director Joel Edgerton hired Bateman as he knew the "Horrible Bosses" actor could make the transition from light to dark.
"I felt very sorry for Jason. I feel like he's not working very much and he needed a bit of a helping 3 hand. No, look, I love when actors that are generally known as being funny people take a walk down that dramatic path. It's often been a very successful transition and a surprising one and, as a filmmaker, I thought that was kind of exciting. But Jason has all the right acting 4 chops that I've seen in other movies enough to know that he was going to not only do a good job of it but he was going to do a more than great job and he's proven that to me."
